I know my eyes aren’t what they used to be because of age, but I don’t think my eyesight is the problem when reading the Times lately. I do believe you need to change the print because the paper has been difficult to read. The print is so light. [ Editor’s Note: I don’t think we’ve done anything to change the print quality of the paper, but I’ll sneak back to the production area and see if there’s anything that has changed, and if so I’ll tell them you said to change it back]

*** Thanks to the Times paper carrier for Shiloh in Marion. I had a small problem about a paper and I simply called circulation. I was assured it would be a taken care of by the next day; that he was probably in Hughes. Within about an hour, there was a knock at my door and there was the carrier; taking care of the situation. I shook his hand and assured him that everyone makes mistakes and that he does a good job, especially getting the paper closer to the house. Just like the old times as a kid; I had a morning route in West Memphis and delivered to the door. It’s not at the door now but well close enough for sure! Thanks Mr. Charlie! [ Editor’s Note: Glad everything worked out there! Your text reminded me of when I was a kid and a friend of mine from down the street was our local paperboy. He would come into the house and harass my Mom and Dad for their $ 2, or hit me with the paper. Good times… good times]

*** I am so disappointed in the service/management at Mi Pueblo in Marion. We had a table of 7 there on a busy Friday night. One of our party didn’t get their meal until everyone else had finished theirs. We had notified both our waitress and manager of the mishap as we understand how things happen at times. The manager admitted it was a server error, but refused to “comp” the one meal. Her idea of compensation was a 3 discount. Was this one family member to sit and eat alone or were the rest of us supposed to sit and watch her eat. The idea was to kick off the weekend with a fun family meal. What we got was a huge lack of customer service and frustration. We try to spend money locally to support businesses, but experiences like this make it difficult. Seems like Mi Pueblo’s staff needs a lesson in Southern hospitality. We will never again darken their door – not that they care…

[ Editor’s Note: I’m not looking to throw anyone under the bus here, especially one of our local businesses, but I’m running this just so I can respond. I eat at Mi Pueblo probably once or twice a month, usually with my family, but also occasionally with a group from church ( on a Sunday afternoon, which is probably pretty comparable to Friday night crowd- wise), and just like any other restaurant, the staff there do a great job but they do make mistakes. I have had a couple of similar mishaps there and at other restaurants, but they always are very apologetic and quickly work to correct any mistakes. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any free food out of it, but then again, I don’t expect free food just because of a mistake. On a tangent note, since someone asked a few days ago about Sharks, the new fish and chicken place in West Memphis ( where the old Mrs. Winner’s used to be on Missouri Street), I will add that my family and I ate there a few days ago for the first time. They appear to be doing big business, as the drive- thru was packed the whole time we were inside, and there was brisk sit- down and take- out business. The food was very good. It was a little pricey, at least to my cheap mind, coming in at $ 54 for a family of five. But we had enough left-overs for a couple of next- day lunches, so maybe we just ordered too much food?]

*** Here we go again it’s basketball season and of course all you see in your newspaper is the senior high teams. Is that all your sports writer can take pictures and write stories about. I bet you never thought that there are junior high parents that buy your newspaper or are you all that shallow.

[ Editor’s Note: Man, I get that you would like to see more coverage of junior high sports in the paper, but I’m not sure what your approach here is supposed to do. Shame us into covering junior high sports? That last sentence: “ I bet you never thought that there are junior high parents that buy your newspaper or are you all that shallow?” Do you double- dog dare us to cover a junior high game? In all seriousness, though, I know where you’re coming from. We do have a new sports guy, and I have encouraged him to get to a junior high game or two, so maybe we’ll get something in the paper before things escalate to triple- dog dare status]
