Crittenden County Quorum Court met for the first time in 2017 to set the agenda for the way business will be conducted in the coming year.

Justices met during an organizational meeting this week and decided to keep the meeting times on the third Tuesday of the month as well as how they will be paid for meetings.

Meetings will continue to be held at 9 a.m. in the county courthouse. Justices will also continue to receive $400 per meeting with a maximum salary of $9,500 per year.

“It was a very quick meeting where we get together and go over a few things,” said County Judge Woody Wheeless. “They decided to keep the meeting time the same and the pay.”

Two justices — Vickie Robertson and Tyrone McWright — were also officially sworn in on Tuesday during the meeting.

The county held a swearing in ceremony on Jan. 1 for all city, county or state officials wishing to take the oath.

Wheeless also handed out committee assignments for 2017 as well which remained unchanged from the previous year.

Justice Joe Marotti will head up the County Buildings Committee; Lisa O’Neal will stay on as head of the Clean-up Committee; Vickie Robertson will chair the Finance Committee; Personnel Committee will be run by Lorenzo Parker; Albert Marconi will oversee the County Roads Committee; and Hubert Bass will continue on as head of the Economic Development Committee. All members of the Quorum Court serve on the Budget Committee. Wheeless said he was looking forward to a productive year.

“Our county is really blessed to have great employees and excellent elected officials,” Wheeless said. “This is a great group of people to work with and I know they will work hard and do what’s right for the county. I think 2017 is going to be a really good year for the county.”
