A brawl turned deadly for a Lakeshore man Wednesday afternoon. It began when longtime friends and residents in the trailer park got into a dispute. Chris Leduk, 22, and Timothy Bell, 29, got into an altercation around 4:30 p.m., according to Chief Todd Grooms with the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators developed Bell as the suspect after witnesses said he shot Leduk dead in a barrage of gunfire when he returned to the South Cove home after the fight. Deputies, detectives and medics responded.
“There was a fight between the two and Timothy Bell got beat up pretty good and left the scene,” said Grooms.
“Thirty minutes later, he came back to the house, opened the door an just began shooting. Then he ran off.”
Leduk was dead on arrival at Region One of multiple wounds to the torso according to the report.
The Sheriff Department mounted a man hunt that went into the night.
Roadblocks were set up in the neighborhood. A house to house search of the Lakeshore Estates Mobile Home Community proved fruitless.
Ten deputies armed with rifles traveled in groups moving up and down the streets and coves searching all around the 380 mobile homes.
“We stayed out until past midnight with the special response team,” said Grooms. “We did a house by house sweep of the entire neighborhood. We did not find him. We are still looking for him.”
Ultimately, the suspect turned himself in.
Bell was arrested Thursday afternoon, shortly after 12 p.m., surrendering to Sheriff’s Deputies.
