Avondale earns Blue Ribbon
Avondale Elementary, the Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade Campus in the Marion School District, is a Lighthouse Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The school has earned earned this distinguished award every five years. AES first earned this achievement in 2010 and then again in 2015. AES continues to meet the excellence standards required to maintain the Lighthouse distinguished award set forth by Blue Ribbon. The nine standards they are measured upon to accomplish Lighthouse status are: Student Focus and Support; School Organization and Culture; Challenging Standards and Curriculum; Active Teaching and Learning; Technology Integration; Schedule Assessment; Professional Community; Leadership and Educational Vitality; School, Family, and Community Partnerships; Indicators of Success. Kristi Rice, Tracy Stokes, Katie Astin, Brittany Butler, Julie Kaiser, and Liz Creel recently presented at The Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence National Conference at Disney World. Teachers and administrators from all across the world attended the conference this year, including teachers and administrators from Beijing.
