Busy Season
hbacond7@aol.com Chuck and Janey Carpenter of Horseshoe Lake have had a busy last two months. Their son, Chase Carpenter, is Assistant Director of Advanced Analytics, for the Chicago, Cubs. Chuck and Janey went to Game 1 and 2 of the National League Championship series and also attended Game 4 of the World Series. In between going to Chicago, they also take visits to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to see their granddaughter, Evie. For Thanksgiving this year, Chuck and Janey had a full house. Their son and daughter in-law, Chase and Jackie Carpenter of Chicago, Illinois, Brian, Whitney and Evie Gass of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Granny Pat Surman and her sister, Charlotte Lanpher of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In addition to Janey working in Memphis, she still had time to complete crafts for a craft show in Memphis, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Park Grant
The town of Horseshoe Lake has applied again for a Park Grant. On Oct. 28, Alderman, Shawn Siders and Town Recorder, Deanna McDermott went to Jacksonville, to present a proposal for what they would spend the monies on if grant was approved, for Horseshoe Lake. There are 10 grants to be awarded and 25 municipalities have applied. They hope to hear something this month.

Winter Hours
St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church has started their winter hours. Mass will be on Saturday afternoons at 4:30 p.m.

Art Gallery
The Plantation Art Gallery on Trout Road will have a showing of Scott & Fred Plaisted artwork and pottery by Barb McKee. It will be open Dec. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Community Get Together
On Dec. 11 at 2 p.m., at the Surf Club, there will be a community get together, to announce the winner(s) of the Christmas Decorating Contest. This is not sponsored by the Town or the Surf Club.
