What lake were Evelyn Wilson & Robert Butler fishing in for “Big Fish?”

[ Editor’s Note: Sorry, they did not include that information with the picture from the other day, but judging by the size of it, perhaps it was Loch Ness?]

*** Also, these 4 suvs were not going to Krystal. They were in pursuit on Barton and Brentwood, unless the baby was driving. I am more of a supporter of the police than you. Sticking your head in the sand without attempting to tell them they are in the wrong is not support. Do an article on the training that teaches them how to drive in this high speed fashion. Bear in mind I already know the answer. Michael [ Editor’s Note: I’m pretty sure we’re not having a “ who supports the police more contest,” but if we are, you can win. I’m OK with second place. But in any event, I’m glad you already know the answer, because I read this thing a couple of times and I don’t see a question, perhaps I simply can not see it with my head in all of this sand]

*** In your response to a Text the Times submission from last week, you wrote, “I’ve got nothing.” In that case, perhaps you shouldn’t respond. [ Editor’s Note: That certainly sounds like something I would say. Unfortunately, I looked over the last week’s worth of papers to see what it might have been in reference to and couldn’t find it. Usually, my responses are aimed at answering a question or offering commentary to the text, so if that’s what was said it must have been something particulary licentious, ostentatious or some other big word. Not going to lie, though. Responding to these texts is what make this section worth doing for me, so keep them coming!]

*** Since it appears both west memphis and crittenden county have plenty of money for raises and bonus’s – why don’t they give the tax payers a raise by giving us a tax cut? [ Editor’s Note: Hahahaha— oh, wait, you were serious, weren’t you? While I see what you are saying, the tax revenue is always in a state of flux, and committing to a tax cut is a pretty risky move. Yes, so is giving municipal employees a raise, but a raise is at least a predictable fixed amount that you can budget. Reducing sales tax ( an always fluctuating month- tomonth figure) by, say one percent, means having to budget for one percent less of an unknown figure. I am personally a little miffed that the West Memphis city workers got their raise and then still want a bonus on top of that, but I guess why not take more money if you can get it, and if the city thinks they can afford the hit financially, I guess there’s nothing wrong with rewarding the people who keep the city running]

*** It was really nice reading in The Times that my provisional ballot wasn’t important enough to be counted. Not that it would have affected the outcome of any of the races, but I was one who specifically requested a paper ballot because I have problems with the electronic ballot. I was on the list, and I also signed another sheet specifically requesting a paper (provisional) ballot. So much for every vote counting. In my case one vote would not have changed anything locally, but it’s the principle. [Editor’s Note: Did you go to the Election Commission meeting where all of the contested ballots were reviewed? That’s the process and is the burden you bear for voting with a provisional ballot. That’s why they are called that. You cast your vote with the provision that you will present evidence that your vote is valid when the time comes. If you did go to the meeting, and your vote wasn’t counted, then I’m sure you were offered an explanation as to why it was not. If you did not, then I guess you didn’t consider your ballot “important enough to be counted.”] *** I’m thinking that it’ll be a cold day in #___ Before we get the keys back to the ousted queens office in Earle

[ Editor’s Note: It has been pretty chilly lately. By my understanding, she had five days from the certification of the vote ( which was last Monday) to take care of all that. If not, she was subject to arrest and a number of other penalties. I haven’t seen her face in the “ Who Got Busted” section, so I’ll assume all of that is a done deal, but if I hear different, I’ll let you know]
