OBITUARY

George Harris Walker Jr., 88, of West Memphis died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mr. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Memphis, the former owner and operator of Delta Roofing And Sheet Metal, a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion, Post 5225 VFW, a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, Arkansas and Tennessee Model Railroad Club, National Railway Historical Society, the West Memphis Rotary Club, a founding Board Member of the West Memphis Boy’s Club, and a board Member of East Arkansas Community College at Forrest City, Arkansas. He was an avid Blue Devil Fan and Arkansas Razorback Fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Walker Sr. and Mamie Dell Varner Walker; and a daughter Nancy Martinez.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Jeffords Walker of West Memphis; four daughters, Sandra Couch of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Jeanne Burns (Bobby) of Southaven, Mississippi, Sally Easley (John) of Neosho, Missouri and Susan Anderson of Elsinore, Utah; a son, Bill Walker (Robyn) of Eads, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren, David Couch, Ashley Martin, Larry Cook, Skye Shamburger, Keita Bennett, Sonny Ray, Allie Walker and Jackson Walker; and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at The First Baptist Church in West Memphis with burial following at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
