Rains reign at Show of Champions

Local rider shows off equestrian expertise

ATimes Special Feature Seven Horse Show Associations from Arkansas competed in the Show of Champions (formerly Ark-Mo) the week of Sept. 1719, in Melbourne, Arkansas. Each person competing had to have been in the top seven in their respective classes to be eligible to compete. This has always been a competition between Missouri and Arkansas riders.

Caitlyn Rains of Proctor won 2nd place in Gaited Halter (she was reserve champion), 1st place in Queens (Champion), 1st place in Youth Horsemanship (Champion), 2nd place in Slow Gaited (Reserve Champion), 1st place in Ladies Gaited (Champion), 6th place in Fox Trot, Gelding Halter and Junior Horse Pleasure, 3rd place in Youth Western Pleasure, 10 place and 3rd place in Open Barrels, 5th place in Open Walk Trot and the Over All Gaited High Point Saddle winner.

Caitlyn has had a very good year winning two Overall Saddles, two Queen titles, two Pinto World titles and numerous belt buckles.

Bethany Rains won 3rd place in Pony Pleasure at the Show of Champions, 9th in Walk Trot 10 and Under and 7th place in Buckaroo Western Pleasure. Bethany also had many wins this year including 1st place in Pony Pleasure at the Arkansas State Championship Show.

Bethany is following along in her older sister’s footsteps.
