Garden Club

The Hughes Town and Country Garden Club met on Oct. 21, at Asian Fusion in West Memphis. This month’s hostesses were Rosalind O’Neal and Barb McKee. The ladies were reminded to save aluminum tabs, box tops for Education and UPC codes from Campbell’s soup labels. This month’s program was presented by Kyle Gaines with Design Crew Ecological out of Wynne on Landscape Design. The tables were decorated with Halloween cupcakes and trays of pansies. The pansies were given away as door prizes to: Pam Zanone, Kyle Gaines and Jeanette Cumbia.

Northeast District Garden Club Meeting

The Northeast District meeting was held Oct. 20, at Harding University in Searcy. Those representing The Hughes Town & Country Garden club were: Holly Bacon and Teresa Shannon. The Former Arkansas First Lady, Ginger Beebe welcomed everyone to Searcy. After lunch the ladies enjoyed “Autumn Blessings” by Liz Howell and then a program presented by Ann Wood, White County Master Gardener on “Your Friends in the Garden” Door prizes were awarded to most participants and then a tour of the First Ladies Garden, Secret Garden and Serendipity Garden and more!

AARP Course

There will be an AARP driver safety course offered on Nov. 19, at the Surf Club, at Horseshoe Lake from 1 to 5 p.m. If you are an AARP member the charge is $15, you will need to bring your AARP card, if not a member it is $20. There will be no test and you can get a reduction on your auto insurance. If you have any questions contact Gary Hayne at 870-3392180. There will be another course at the West Memphis Library on Dec. 13, from noon to 4 p.m.
