Shooters use high voltage insulators for ‘ target practice’
CEC Marketing & Communications JONESBORO — A $1000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals that vandalized a transmission line structure last Saturday morning. Power was lost to over 4900 members of Craighead Electric due to someone using the power pole for target practice.
The shooter(s) destroyed all three insulators that held the high voltage power line in place.
'This is not just an inconvenience to our members but a very dangerous situation', says Brian Duncan, CEO of Craighead Electric Cooperative, “we want to catch the people before they damage more facilities or injure the public.
This is more than just a day of fun target practicing. According to Federal Law, this is an act of terrorism.”
If you have any information please call your local sheriff department or CECC at 800-794-5012. If you see any suspicious activity around substations, or any electric substructure, please call. Your assistance may deter vandalism, theft and even save
a life.
