Impressive list of employers for ASU Mid-South Career Fair

Come out Oct. 13 to free event and find your future

ASU Mid-South Numerous local and regional employers have registered to participate in Arkansas State University Mid-South’s Career Fair next week. The big event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The fair, open to anyone interested in being hired, will be held in the rotunda of Donald W. Reynolds Center on the south side of college’s campus.

There is no admission fee for job seekers, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. The participant list already includes the Arkansas Department of Human Services, East Arkansas Family Health Center, Family Dollar Distribution, PTL Trucking, Southland Park Gaming and Racing, Surface Dynamics, Walgreens, West Memphis Police Department and West Memphis School District and many others.

“We’re really excited about the number and quality of employers that have registered to come to our campus for our fall Career Fair,” noted event organizer Cortez Washington, ASU Mid-South Career Services Coordinator.

“This is the perfect opportunity to bring the community together for an activity that benefits both the employers and potential employees.”

Cortez said the mission is clear.

“Our goal is to train students to become career-ready,” he explained. “This event is an opportunity for our students to get on-the-spot interviews and gain experience in how to secure a job. It also is perfect for those in the community who may not be students to see the employment prospects in our area and the skills that employers require for those jobs.”

Job seekers should come ready to be interviewed. Appearance, greeting, and follow- up are important aspects of a successful job fair experience, and professional dress is a must. Prospective employees should also bring multiple copies a high-quality resume.

“You should look professional and make a good impression by dressing as you would for a formal interview,” Washington pointed out.
