The Earle Music Coterie started the new club year with a beautiful piano and organ concert presented by Jeanne Hurst and Alex Turner.

Jane Speed was the program leader. Selections included “Joyful, Joyful” arranged by Carl Seal by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring” arranged by Rob Roy Peery by J. S. Bach, “Carol Of Bells” featuring “Carol of the Bells/Angels We Have Heard On High” arrangement by Stephen Nielson and Ovid Young, “Majesty” arranged by Dick Torrans by Jack Hayford, “Fragment From An Etude” arranged by Lee Ellis by Frederic Chopin, “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” arranged by Roy Ringwald by William Steffe, “How Great Thou Art” arranged by Bob Ralston by Stuart K. Hine.

Rev. Tony Wells, president, presided and led the reading of the Club Collect. Allison Bird, Ken Lancaster and Eric Elms were welcomed as new members.

Mary Jo Staggs gave the story of the song “Oh! Susanna” followed by group singing. Mrs. Hurst was accompanist.

Janis Lancaster read the poem “The Sweetest Of Nights And The Finest Of Days” by Judy Viorst. The group sang “Work, For The Night Is Coming” as the closing song.

Co-Hosts were Elleene Holloway and Dot McKinney.

Other members present were Jimmie Barham, Sue Ann Elms, Donna Hooker, Christine Littlejohn, Frankie Swindle and Rev. Stacie Grubbs.

Visitors included Sue Dorman, Becky Knapp, Eda Claire Slabaugh, Melvin Mann, Lucille Person, Minnie McCain, Chris Ragland and several of Alex Turner’s family members.

*** A back to church celebration was held at the First Assembly of God Church Sept. 18.

Approximately 100 attended and enjoyed the picnic, games, snow cones, cotton candy, horses, obstacle course inflatable and mini car show.

Clayton Adams is pastor.

*** The 39ers of the Earle Baptist Church had dinner at Colton’s in Marion Sept. 23.

Included were Doug Manchester, Kay and Rev. Bill Watt, Janis Lancaster, Ken Lancaster, Christine Littlejohn, Frankie Swindle, Charlene and Elbert Person, Sue Ann Elms, Vickey and Rev. Tony Wells, chairman of the group.
