Iris Adkison, 95, of Hughes was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Memphis the daughter of the late V.B. (Sr.) and Bessie Stidley Rose and entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, in Marion. Ms. Adkison spent many years as Director of Head Start. Iris was a Christian and was a member of Hughes Church of God. She is survived by her five children, Bette Clark of West Memphis, Ronda (Gary) Mitchell of Olive Branch, Beth (Guy) Arnold of Widener, Lisa VanVoorhis of Hughes and Michael (Linda) Adkison also of Hughes. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Ms. Adkison is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete Adkison; two brothers, V.B. Rose, Jr. and Jesse Rose; along with two sisters, Melba Lowe and Winnie Barkley. The family will receive their friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at the Marianna Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions in memory of Iris may be made to Hughes Church of God, Adkison-Arnold Scholarship Fund, or ASU Mid-South. Gerald “Wayne” Hall

Gerald “Wayne” Hall, 56 of Marion died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, surrounded by friends and family. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Gerald Cecil Hall and Jo Ann Cooper. He was an avid Bass fisherman and antique car enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his son, Walker Hall of Memphis; mother, Jo Ann Cooper of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; sister, Dana Charney (Brian) of Byron Center, Michigan; his dog, Jake, better known as “DANGIT JAKE”; and many heartbroken friends that will truly miss him. There wasn’t anyone that he would not go out of his way to help.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis followed by a celebration of life at his home in Marion.

Roberta Walter

On Sept. 2, 2016, Roberta Walter went to be with the Lord. Roberta joined her husband of 56 years, Rev. John Walker, who preceded her in death last November. Roberta was a godly lady, who spent her life serving her Lord and others for more than 50 years. She loved her family dearly and is survived by her four children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; a sister and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwayne & Lois Fairchild; her brother, Dwayne; and a granddaughter Britini. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Marion on Oct. 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sharon A. Wells

Sharon A. Wells, of Memphis, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in St. Vincent Hospital in Middleburg, Florida. Visitation Friday, Sept. 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anthony Funeral Home South Chapel and Saturday, Sept. 24, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Hope Church, 8500 Walnut Grove, Memphis. Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with burial in Paradise Garden Cemetery. She leaves a sister, Patricia Caldwell Dove of Orange Park, Florida.
