Marion, WM and Searcy hit the links

In the final golf meet of the regular season, Marion, West Memphis, and Searcy met in a 3way match at Marion.

The Patriot boys finished first behind the strong performance of junior Conner Catt. Catt fired a 74 to finish as medalist in the match. Senior Parker Jennings of WM placed 2nd with a nice 77. In the 18 hole match with Searcy, Marion won with a team score of 336 over Searcy’s 356. In the 9 hole match, Marion’s team score was 27 over par compared to Searcy’s second place +33 and WM’s +38.

Marion and WM are racing neck-and-neck to secure a slot in the state tournament at Mt. Home.

The Patriots have won 2 meetings against WM; WM has won 2 meetings against Marion. The boy’s state tournament will take place October 2-4.

On the girls side, Searcy won the match over both WM and Marion. Marion finished 2nd in the team competition. Ellen Grace Adams of Searcy fired an 89 to win medalist honors. The Searcy girls are strong contenders to finish 2nd in the state tournament. It is unlikely that anyone will catch Jonesboro. Marion was led again by sophomore Sydney Masengale who shot a 105 on the challenging greens. Kennedy McClanahan led the Lady Devils with a nine hole score of +22. Marion and Wm girls will travel to Jonesboro Sunday through Tuesday for the state meet.
