Sandra Ruth “Sandy” Edington, 69, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, in Tallahassee.

A daughter of the late Jack Davis, Sr. and Ruth Conn Davis, she was born November 24, 1946, in Macon, Mississippi. She worked as a legal secretary in Memphis, Tennessee, and later retired from the Tallahassee Democrat as a secretary. She enjoyed traveling, was a die hard FSU Seminole fan and enjoyed both college and professional football games. Her biggest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Edington, Jr. and Kimberly Edington; grandchildren, Olivia Edington, Gabrielle Edington, Savannah Edington and Zackery Edington, all of West Memphis; siblings, Daphne Penrose, of Birmingham, Alabama and Jack Davis, Jr., of Cairo, Georgia; and uncle and aunts, Earl Conn, of Memphis, Tennessee, Joanne Christy, of Valdosta, Georgia and Berta Davis, of Thomasville, Georgia. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dennis Pope

Dennis Pope, 62, of West Memphis, born March 3, 1954, the son of the late Billy and Mildred Pope passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Pope was a member of Local 614 Steamfitters – Memphis. He was a Christian, having a membership at Victory Church in West Memphis.

He is survived by two children, Lucas Pope of West Memphis and Tylar Sparks (Keith) of Marked Tree; three grandchildren, Kason, Trey, and Tinley; two brothers, Danny Pope (Lesa) and John Pope both of West Memphis; two sisters, Jan Stewart (Richard) and Linda Smith. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Dustin Pope, Clancy Lancaster and Peyton Nix.

The family will receive their friends Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
