Memphis drops game three to Iowa, 7-2

Patrick Wisdom hits his fourth home run of the season

Memphis Redbirds DES MOINES, Iowa – The Memphis Redbirds (61-68) were 2-for-14 at the plate tonight with runners in scoring position, left 11 on-base and struck out 13 times in tonight’s 7-2 loss to the Iowa Cubs (59-71).

Patrick Wisdom went 1for-4 at the dish and hit his fourth home run of the season for the Redbirds to the leadoff the top of the seventh inning. Wisdom’s last home run was against Las Vegas on May 28.

Harrison Bader drove in Matt Williams from third in the bottom of the ninth to have the only other run batted in for the Redbirds. Williams reached base four times tonight, drawing three walks and getting a single in the bottom of the ninth. Bader also got his first stolen base of the season as a Redbird.

Mike Ohlman’s ninegame hitting streak came to an end tonight as he went hitless in four atbats.

Kurt Heyer (2-3) picked up his third-consecutive loss as a starter for the Redbirds this season. He gave up seven hits and five earned runs in 5.1 innings of work while fanning three and issuing three walks. Thomas Lee made a relief appearance and gave up three hits and two earned runs in 2.2 innings. Heyer and Lee each gave up a home run.

Memphis and Iowa will play the series finale tomorrow afternoon at 12:08 p.m. (CT), and then the Redbirds will travel home to AutoZone Park to play their final homestand of the season against the Nashville Sounds.
