Tip fails to pan out for Sheriff’s Office, FBI

news@theeveningtimes.com

Early last Friday, the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office, along with excavators and FBI agents were searching for the body of Blake Wood around a home off McNeely Road, almost two years to the day from the last time anyone saw him alive.

Wood, who has been missing since 2014, was reportedly murdered.

Investigators said they received a credible tip his body was buried in the area after a homicide.

Throughout the day on Friday, FBI agents worked with excavators at the home but didn't find anything. Later in the afternoon cadaver dogs were brought in to continue the search.

While the excavation proved fruitless, Allen felt the tip was a step in the right direction.

“We got enough information that was real substantial from a suspect,” he said. That tip “led us to this point.”

Wood, who was 23 at the time of his disappearance, was wanted on drug charged when he went missing on Aug. 20, 2014.

“He came up missing and we thought he was a fugitive,” said Allen. “The family started to show real concern … people close to him sensed something was wrong.”

Although no names were released, Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen said they have several suspects.

That list does not include the residents of the home located on the property, who cooperated with the investigation.
