Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department may be close to solving a two year old missing person case, which is most likely a homicide.

Sheriff Mike Allen said officers from CCSO and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on South McNeely Road Thursday where they believe the body of Blake Wood is buried.

“It’s still early on in the investigation,” Allen said.

“But we got enough information that was real substantial from a suspect to know where the body was and led us to this point. We’ve been pursuing it as a homicide for some time.

It’s quickly developing and is looking real positive at this point.”

The 23-year-old Wood was wanted on drug charges but turned up missing on Aug.

20, 2014.

“We were pursuing him on drug charges but then he came up missing and we thought he was a fugitive,” Allen said. “The family started to show real concern. He just disappeared under circumstances that people close to him sensed something was wrong.”

Investigator Todd Grooms said two cadaver dogs from both departments hit upon the same 20-foot-wide area. Allen said they waiting for a special forensic dig team to help excavate the area for the body.

“It’s going to be a shallow grave,” Allen said.
