Family and Faith defined the life of Charlotte Virginia Pratt Harlan, who passed away peacefully Thursday, July 28, 2016. Miss Virginia was born August 24, 1916, in Cliftonville, Mississippi to her parents, Charles Thomas Pratt and Emma May (Wootten) Hinkle Pratt.

On July 2, 1935, Virginia was united in marriage to Grady Woodrow Harlan, Sr., who died May 28, 1974. The couple had three children, Grady Woodrow “Woody” Harlan, Jr., Emily Virginia Harlan, and Dorothy Jane “Dar” Harlan Pressly. All three children predeceased their mother.

Virginia was employed by the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS) for 29 years. She was a devout member of Marion United Methodist Church for 89 years.

She is survived by four grandchildren who lovingly called her NAME, Grady Woodrow “Wood” Harlan, III and wife Diane of Seligman, Missouri, Patricia “Cissy” Harlan Reynolds and husband Steve of Niceville, Florida, Scott Pressly and wife Leanne of Salida, Colorado and Robert Pressly and wife Laurie of Simpsonville, South Carolina; great granddaughters, Sophia Pressly of Salida, Colorado, and Piper Pressly of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Also predeceasing her were two brothers and their wives, Ruth and Robert Hinkle, and Betty and Charles Thomas Pratt, Jr.

Virginia will be greatly missed by a host of nieces and nephews as well as her many loving and loyal friends. She will be remembered for her gifts of hospitality, humor, wisdom and grace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Marion United Methodist Church designated to the Dorothy Jane “Dar” Harlan Pressly Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends at Marion United Methodist at 12 noon Tuesday, August 2, 2016, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion.
