Redbirds vying for Esurance home field advantage award

Memphis Redbirds MEMPHIS, Tennessee – As the second half of the season gets underway, Minor League Baseball and Esurance today unveiled the first annual Esurance Home Field Advantage Award. One Minor League Baseball team in each of the 14 leagues will receive the award based on the highest percentage capacity of the ballpark during the 2016 season.

Memphis Redbirds fans are encouraged to continue to support the Redbirds in this friendly competition by attending games in the home stretch of the regular season. The winning teams will be announced in September and honored at the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings™ in National Harbor, Maryland, this December. A celebration for the hometown fans of each winning team will also take place at their respective ballparks at the start of the 2017 season.

“Redbirds fans help make AutoZone Park a great place for family fun all summer long,” Redbirds President and General Manager Craig Unger said. “Our attendance this season is up from last year, and we have a chance to finish the season strong with numerous great promotions to please fans of all ages. This is a chance to show everyone what we already know – that baseball fans in Memphis are some of the best anywhere.”

The Redbirds’ promotional calendar is packed with fun-filled events to entertain every kind of fan. The final month of the season includes four fireworks nights (Aug. 6, Aug. 13, Aug. 26, Aug. 27), a Redbirds Adult Pullover giveaway (Aug. 6), a replica Memphis Chicks jersey giveaway (Aug. 27) and Theme Ticket items on Aug. 13 (Trevor Rosenthal Talking Bobblehead), Aug. 26 (2006 World Series Bobblehead) and Aug. 27 (Teacher Appreciation).
