The Canasta Club met at the home of Judy Tacker Sharp in Marked Tree recently.

Lou Burns of Marked Tree won high score, Debbie Franks of Tyronza won second, Brenda Shempert of Wynne won low and Kim Fraley of Crawfordsville won bingo.

Others present were Terre Rodgers and Mary Jane Edwards of Earle, Kaye Lehman of Marion and Bobbie Estes of Jonesboro.

*** Nolan Rodgers of Marion celebrated his ninth birthday with a party held at his home recently. April Harvey hosted the special event.

Guests included Megan and Katie Greer of Jenks, Oklahoma, Terri and Jim Kuhn of Proctor, Wade Rodgers II of Marion and Chad Kirtley of West Memphis.

*** The youth of the First Assembly of God church held a fundraiser at Walmart in West Memphis July 9 in preparation for a Fine Arts trip to Kentucky in August.

They sold hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks.

Those participating were Cade Morris, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Dean Partain, Jackson Glide, Hailee and Bella Newingham, Bobbie and Elizabeth Karow, J. T. Buford, Laurie and Clayton Adams, church pastor. *** Several members of Lighted Pathways Church visited at River Ridge Nursing Home in Wynne July 17.

Included were Susie Root, Niki Carnes, Evelyn Blaylock, Earlene Harrison and Rev. Frances Gamble, pastor.

Earlene sang a solo and Rev. Gamble played her tambourine.

The group enjoyed having lunch together.

*** Several members of the First Assembly of God church celebrated “National Ice Cream Day” Sunday evening following the worship service when they enjoyed an ice cream supper.

Among those attending were Judy Wiley, Bonnie and Billy Crenshaw, Wendy Watson and daughters Emma and Olivia, Tracy and Ethan, Elbert Person, Myra Arquitt, Sandy Holloway, Debbie and Carlos Love, Nick Partain, Deacon Partain, Bobbie Karow, Laurie and Clayton Adams, church pastor.

*** Megan and Katie Greer of Jenks, Oklahoma spent three weeks in Earle recently where they visited with relatives.

*** Jimmie Barham was in Hot Springs recently where she attended the Miss Arkansas Contest.

Her cousin, Destiny Quinn, of Jonesboro, was one of the 42 contestants. She presented a tap dance number as her talent and was among the top 10 contestants.

Jean Burns, Elleene Holloway, Ellen Holloway, Dot McKinney, Mary Frances Davis, Christine Littlejohn and Sue Ann Elms had dinner together at Veano’s in Marion last Tuesday.
