Here’s what everyone is talking about this week:

You wrote a beautiful article earlier this month about the generosity of “young Max” at the donation box for Brent Price in Worthington Park. Brent’s untimely death was indeed tragic, and his family remains in my prayers. But I was so impressed with Max’s spirit in giving everything I had… [ Editor’s Note: There was more to the text, but at the risk of spoiling the surprise, if Max or someone that knows Max can get in contact with the Times, we have a special something for him! You can text the Times at ( 870) 225- 1456, email me at news@ theeveningtimes. co m, or call ( 870) 735- 1010 with contact info. Thanks!]

*** What has happened to the sewer project at grassy lake area. Why can’t they drill under the railroad track it don’t take 3 months to get permit and that should have been done before the first hole was dug. Who dropped the ball? [ Editor’s Note: I don’t know, those railroad companies still have a lot of clout. If they’re holding up a boring permit ( that’s as in “ to bore a hole,” not as in “ that permit isn’t very interesting”), then the folks doing the work are pretty much at their mercy. I know that boring under the rail-road isn’t something that they like to do. Not only is is expensive ( like hundreds of dollars per foot, I think), it’s also potentially harmful to the railroad track. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know]

*** Ashley Beyer and Cameron Hicks harvested and delivered 26 lbs of veggies to Hope House today! 11 lbs of purple hull peas!! Thanks so much Katie’s Krops Hope 4 Hope Garden. We appreciate all you do for the hungry people in Crittenden County.

[ Editor’s Note: Well done, youngsters! And the frog/ tire garden thingie is pretty snazzy, too]

*** I see Walmart has their back to school supplies up already. When are they going to put out the list for the schools? I don’t want to have to whoop somebody over a 3-ring binder this year. [ Editor’s Note: If they don’t have them out yet, you can try online. I know Bragg Elementary has theirs listed, but I’m not sure about the others.

The West Memphis schools are doing some maintenance to their web sites, so some of them are down right now. You could always call the school.

Anyway, good luck with the back- to- school shopping.

I’d go ahead and grab all the pocket folders with the three metal clasps I could find. If you end up not needing them, you could probably sell them for $ 5 apiece the third week in August on Swap Shop]

*** On Deputy Bailey’s recognition, I’m so glad this made the news at any level! [ Editor’s Note: Certainly worthy of it. A number of folks have shared the story on Facebook as well, so hopefully even more eyes, outside of our general readership, will get a chance to read it]
