Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving a drive-by shooting on Wednesday in Earle which left a 29 year-old man dead and another injured.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred at 1521 3rd Street around 11:45 p.m.

Four adults and three small children were inside the residence when about 13 shots were fired into the home.

Chief Investigator Todd Grooms said the four adults were in the living room playing video games when they heard gunfire.

The victim, Jackie L. Lincoln, was struck in the head by a bullet and was airlifted in critical condition to The Med in Memphis where he was later pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. on Thursday.

“They said they were inside playing I think an XBox game and bullets just started coming through the house,” Grooms said.

“They saw nothing. They heard what they thought sounded like loud gun shots and a bullet came through the wall. They got up to go into the hallway to take cover and at the entrance to the hallway by the living room the victim caught a bullet in the head.”

A second individual, 31 year-old Derrick L.

McKenzie, received a minor injury when he was struck in the heel.

“As a matter fact, they thought it was a glass cut,” Grooms said. “But when he came up to the Sheriff’s Office and we were talking to him, he took his shoe off and the bullet was still in his shoe. It was just a graze.”

Grooms said the incident is still under investigation and there are no suspects at this time. The motive is also still unknown.

“At this time we are not positive there is a vehicle involved or if they were on foot,” Grooms said. “I’ve got some ideas about it. But I don’t want to speculate.

He may not have been the intended target.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction on their tipline at 732-4444.
