Former Marion Police officer files suit

Woods makes claim against city for discrimination

ralphhardin@gmail.com Former Marion Police Officer, Sgt. Kathy Wood has filed a suit against the City of Marion and Marion Police Chief Gary Kelley on grounds of age and sex discrimination, as well as creating a hostile working environment.

The suit was filed in the Circuit Court of Crittenden County with Circuit Court Clerk Terry Hawkins on May 27.

According to the filing, Wood is claiming age and sex discrimination and creation of a hostile environment under the Arkansas Civil Rights Act A.C.A.

§16-123-106. The suit was filed with the Civil Division of the Circuit Court.

Sgt. Wood, who retired from the Marion Police Department in January, had served on the MPD for 20 years, including the last 11 eleven years in the position of School Resource Officer for the Marion School District.
