Cancer attacks in many forms. At least 30 different kinds of cancer has adopted a representative color, most famously the pink ribbon for breast cancer. The 2016 Crittenden County Relay for Life adopted the theme “Color Our World with Hope.” Each fundraising team chose a color.

“It hit home this year. We are doing this to fight all types of cancer, not just one,” said local volunteer Rhonda Standridge.

“There’ll be walkers who walk in honor or memory of some one. People can come and enjoy the music and eat food prepared by the fund raising teams.”

The 2016 Relay for Life is set for Saturday, with a new location. Foul weather won’t prevail this year, as organizers have moved the event from Tilden Rodgers Park to the Marion First Baptist Church. The relay will still be held from 4 to 11 p.m.

The Crittenden County Relay for Life benefits from a lot of generosity.

“All the bands and most items are donated,” said Standridge. “Its a volunteer organization. Our county is one of the most generous in the region.”

“It is a really good fairlike atmosphere,” said Standridge. “They’ll be lots for the kids to do. There is lots of good music and good food. Everything is donated so 100 percent of the proceeds of things sold that night go toward team fundraising goals. There is really no overhead for the relay so all the money goes
