Hogs to play in Big 12/SEC Challenge

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s basketball team is set to play in the Big 12/SEC Challenge for the third straight year in 2016-17, traveling to Oklahoma State on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a matchup with the Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Razorbacks will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the 51st all-time meeting between the two programs. Oklahoma State leads the series 36-14, with 46 of the 50 matchups coming prior to the 1972-73 season. Arkansas’ last win in Stillwater came on Dec. 7, 1966.

The Razorbacks posted one of the three SEC wins last year in the challenge, knocking off Texas Tech 75-68 in overtime at Bud Walton Arena as Dusty Hannahs went off for 25 points, while Moses Kingsley tallied a doubledouble with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

For the second consecutive year, the challenge will be consolidated to one single day in January as a bye in the league schedule for participating teams was created to accommodate the new format. The four SEC teams not participating will play each other in conference games the same day.

Game times and television networks will be announced in August, as seven of the 10 games will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. Two games will air on ESPNU while one game will be broadcast on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. All 10 games will also be available via WatchESPN.

ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm – the Saturday roadshow that discusses the top storylines of the college basketball season – will originate from one of the Challenge games, to be announced at a later date.

Arkansas returns three of its top four scorers from a year ago and welcomes a dynamic recruiting class for 2016-17 that features three of the top six junior college players in the country and three high school standouts. Seat deposits for the 201617 campaign for new season ticket holders can be made by calling the Razorback Ticket Office at 1-800-982-4647. Current season ticket holders will receive a renewal form this summer.
