2016 A-State Football Game at Utah State Moved to Sept. 16

JONESBORO, Ark.

(5/23/16) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Monday that its 2016 football non-conference road game at Utah State has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 16, to accommodate a nationallytelevised broadcast of the contest by CBS Sports Network.

Originally scheduled for Sept. 17, the game will now be played one day earlier and is set for an 8:00 p.m. CT kickoff from Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. With the addition of the CBS Sports Network’s broadcast, the Red Wolves now have four games slated to appear on national TV in 2016. A-State’s home game versus Georgia Southern on Oct. 5 will be televised by ESPN2, while its road games at Georgia State (Nov. 3) and Troy (Nov. 17) will air on ESPNU.

A-State will host Toledo Sept. 3 in its season opener and play a road game at Auburn a week later before catching Mountain West Conference member Utah State in its third game of the season.

Arkansas State and Utah State have met six times before, last playing in 2014 when the Red Wolves claimed a 21-14 overtime victory at Centennial Bank Stadium.

The two teams have each won three games in the all-time series with five of the six meetings being decided by 13 points or less.

The first six meetings in the series, dating back to 1995, were played as conference games as both teams shared the Big West Conference from 1993-95 and 1999-2000 and the Sun Belt Conference from 2003-04.

The Red Wolves finished the 2015 season as the Sun Belt Conference champions with an unblemished 8-0 league record and played in the New Orleans Bowl before completing the year with a 9-4 overall record. The Aggies completed their 2015 campaign with a 6-7 overall record, including a 23-21 setback against Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The squad finished tied for second place in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference with a 5-3 league record.

Season tickets for the Red Wolves’ 2016 football campaign, which includes six home games, are available for purchase.

Arkansas State has strung together 11 consecutive years with a winning home record dating back to 2005 and has won 26 of its last 30 games at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Tickets may be purchased through the A-State Ticket Office, located at the Convocation Center’s lower red entrance, in person, by phone at 870-9722781 or online by clicking the “Tickets” link located at the top of the AStateRedWolves.com home page.
