MSD to destroy Special Ed records

www.msd3.org Beginning July 1, 2016, the Special Education Department of the Marion School District will destroy special education records which are five years old.

According to State and Federal guidelines, special education records should be destroyed within five years after a child leaves the program. These records are not permanent school records.

They are only special education due process forms and evaluation data.

If your child was receiving special education services during the school year 2009-2010, you have the right to review and request copies of these records before they are destroyed.

Your child also has the right to review and request these records if he/she is 18 years old or older.

If you have any questions about the records, you may contact the Director of Special Services, Marion School District, at (870) 739-5100.
