The Happy Hour Club met at the First United Methodist Church May 2 where they enjoyed a potluck luncheon. The tables were covered with yellow cloths and decorated with vases of jonquils.

Becky Knapp, president, presided.

Rev. Tony Wells gave the Memorial Day devotional and also read a Mother’s Day poem. The group sang “America The Beautiful” led by Rev. Wells with Jane Speed accompanying.

J.W. Ellis was recognized for having a birthday this month.

Others present were Martha Booker, Frank Saig, Sue Dorman, Frankie Swindle, Dot McKinney, Adria Roberts, Doris Gately, Ken Lancaster, Janis Lancaster, Faye Thompson, Minnie McCain, Laura Pritchard, Carolyn Slaughter and Sue Ann Elms.

The next meeting will be held at the Earle Baptist Church June 6.

*** Ellen and Sam Holloway spent several days in Branson, Missouri recently.

They attended several shows including Jimmy Fortune, T. Graham Brown, Gene Watson, Moe Pitney and The Presley’s.

*** Barbara Russell returned to her home in Hattisburg, Mississippi last Saturday after spending several weeks in the home of her sister, Charlotte Brooks.

*** Eric Elms of Memphis was a recent visitor in the home of Sue Ann Elms. He returned home May 5 from a trip to Washington D.C. where he attended the wedding of Payton Deeks and John Stephany, Jr. held at the Little Sanctuary at St. Albans School where John teaches.

He visited in the home of Virginia and Brian Norment and daughter Sloan.

*** Fred Swindle of Heber Springs was a Mother’s Day visitor in the home of Frankie Swindle and also visited with other relatives.

*** Christine Littlejohn joined family for Mother’s Day lunch at Kelly’s Restaurant in Wynne.

Included were Becky and Larry Miller of West Memphis, Mark and Kim Miller, Logan Miller and Jake Miller of Crawfordsville, Sharron Littlejohn, Deborah and Scott Littlejohn and sons James Douglas and Jacob, Terry and Robbie Hutcherson of Wynne, Blake Lowery of Marion, Justin Lowery, Ko Lee and Kacie Turner of Little Rock. *** Mary Jo and Tommy Staggs were in Clarksville, Tennessee recently where they participated in the Twin Oaks Tennessee Classic Archery Tournament.

Mary Jo placed 12th in the women’s division.

Approximately 400 attended and participated in the event.
