We are all here because of the seed of Adam

By Bill McFerrin Local Commentary

We live in a time where the in thing to do is a “background check” on yourself and see just where you came from and just who your ancestors were.

If you look at the bold words above then you will know that answer, and it didn't cost you anything out of your pocket. Now that doesn't mean that it's a great thing to have his seed, because if you remember, Adam was seduced by the spirit of the fallen angel Satan, and because he disobeyed God it caused some big problems. So, I hate to be the one with the bad news, but that mess-up was passed on to you and me, and to this very day we are still being seduced by that same spirit that Adam dealt with way back then.

Now God even went and gave it a name, this messup thing, and he named it “man's hardened heart,” and sure enough it was passed on to every generation since that day. So, now that I have given you all this free information, the question is, what are you going to do with it? You know, when you think about it, this is one of the few historic things that can be changed today.

I know what it takes to get rid of it, and God made sure that the ball ended up in our court, and believe it or not, you’ve got it, and if you make the decision to get rid of it, the cost to you is zero, because he made it totally free just for the asking. Now wouldn't you like everything in life to be that way? And the way I know this is because I got rid of mine personally back in January of 1963, and now I don't have to worry about that part of it any more. But doggone, I’ve still got to think about taxes, insurance, utilities and so many other things, but that's OK, because none of those are going to send me to youknow- where and be separated from God for all eternity.

Now that you got all this information let me tell you also that when you get rid of that hard heart, it doesn't mean that you are going to do nothing but all good stuff from then on, and that all the stuff that you do will always be accepted by God, because that is not the way that it works — regardless of what some might have told you. One of the things about the hard heart and your decision to get rid of it with that free gift is, it always leaves something behind called a fleshly nature, and that was most of your problem in the first place.

When you go through every day life and take the time to look around, then you realize that the seed of Adam is still going strong today, even after passing through so many generations. God knew that the hard heart was going to need a special cure, so he sat down with the Son and the Holy Spirit and they decided in one accord what had to be done to fix this heart problem, so that this messed up heart could be straighten out.

Now let's get the story straight on the front end. Adam was not brought into this world to lie the way he did, but because he was like us he let that flesh be overwhelmed by the presence of Satan himself, and let him talk him into something that ended up taking him down a road that most of us travel a lot today. The reason we know that Adam was originally made perfect is because God said he was made in their image and we know God is total perfection.

I believe that this falling away in the latter days is happening not only by individuals but by a lot of the churches as well. I'm amazed every day as to what is becoming normal as far as God's teaching is concerned with him teaching against it in his inspired word. I look at all this stuff that is happening today, and it brings to mind what I think was a great message that I heard personally, and I think it would be an appropriate message today. The name of that message was “Payday Some Day,” because the way that we live today and think that God will let it continue without any problem to us is missing the whole concept of God himself and what his rules are for us. This comes all the way back from Adam because he didn't let him get away with it and he's surely not going to let us get by with it either. So be sure and keep that in mind everyday.

But as always may God bless you and yours and may he open your mind so that you understand that you need him just as much as all the generations before you.
