Town Meeting No reports from Water Operator, Rick Scarbrough or Fire Chief Billy Thomen both were absent, Report from Code Enforcement Officer, Vince McDermott, he gave the council an update on why they needed to have a special meeting to discuss updating the Code Enforcement Book. He recommends that they adopt the state and national codes. A bid was given on removing a falling tree, trash and a grass cutting on property on Horseshoe Circle. At last month’s meeting grass cutting bid packets were opened and read. City attorney, Brian Williams took back with him and reviewed. After review council agreed to accept the McDermott Company’s bid. A reminder that the City Cleanup will be May 13-15. There will be 2 dumpsters placed at City Hall on Highland Dr. The Mayor asked council to consider raising the mill age an additional 2.5 percent, he received a motion, but died due to the lack of a second motion. ***

Church News

The Horseshoe Lake Baptist Church (HLBC) will have a Yard Sale on May 7, from 7 a.m. until noon. It will be at HLBC on Horseshoe Circle past Bond’s Grocery on the right.

Clean-Up

Canal Gardens Property Owners Association will hold their annual clean-up on May 14, with a rain date of May 21. The dumpster will be placed on Southwood Cove, next to 47 Southwood Cove. If no rain on May 14, Dumpster will be picked up on May 16. If it does rain, dumpster will be picked up on May 23. Dumpster should arrive around May 12. You can meet at the dumpster at 9 a.m., on May 14, where supplies that are furnished by Keep Arkansas Beautiful will be handed out. They normally furnish garbage bags, cloth and vinyl gloves, t-shirts, etc. This year instead of cooking afterwards the faithful workers every year, decided they will be go to the Surf Club and support the event benefiting Make-AWish Foundation, since they will be having food this year on May 14.

Fourth of July

Fourth of July at Horseshoe Lake plans are underway. It has been decided that the 5K Run, Tour de Horseshoe Lake Bike Race, Boat parade, Pier Decorating Contest and Fireworks will be on, Saturday, July 2nd. Surf Club had not confirmed by deadline this week, what their plans are. T-Shirts have been ordered and should be for sale by Memorial Day Weekend.
