AWM Spring Band concert Tuesday

West Memphis School District The Academies of West Memphis band will perform its spring concert on May 3 at 7 p.m. in the school's Performing Arts Center.

Admission is free.

The bands, under the direction of CathyWilliams and Kaitlin Roll, will perform under the theme of a Night at the Movies.

Music from the concert will include Star Wars, Hunger Games, Silent Movie Music, The Wizard of Oz, Mission Impossible, Titanic and Disney movies such as The Little Mermaid, Trashin' in the Camp from Tarzan, Whistle While You Work from Snow White and Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast.

Pixar movies will include music from Up, Ratatouille, Cars, Incredibles and Toy Story.

The West Memphis Jazz Band will feature an arrangement of Grease, arranged by music theory students Ervin Jeffries, Myra Woods and Jenna Grissom. They also will perform Hot Chocolate, Summertime and It Don't Mean a Thing.

Outstanding vocalist Grissom, a senior, will be featured with the Jazz Band.

The night will conclude with a stirring rendition of What a Wonderful World.
