‘Art on the Levee’ returns April 23

DeltaARTS event promises to put the ‘ ART’ in ‘ pARTy’

DeltaARTS From its purely-Delta location to its Southern-fried food, “Art on the Levee” is the Mid-South's most unique “pARTy,” and it raises money for one of Crittenden County's most dedicated causes.

DeltaARTS will host its fifth annual art auction and fundraising party, “Art on the Levee,” on Saturday, April 23 at 5 p.m., at Waverly Plantation, the historic home of Jerri and Pat Crase.

Attendees of “Art on the Levee” will enjoy music from the South Side Supper Club, an eclectic Memphisbased acoustic trio (clarinet, accordion, banjo); fried chicken and catfish with all the trimmings from Gus's Fried Chicken and fried pies from Big John's Shake Shack; tours of the beautiful home and grounds of Waverly Plantation; a silent art auction; and a wine pull offering a wide selection of choices for $20 a “pull.”

This year, Levee's list of artists is longer and more impressive than ever, including 35 artists from the Mid-South area. Artists include Crittenden County favorites such as Chris Archer, Betsy Brackin Burch, Pat Crase, Kathy Daniel, Gail Fogleman, Polly Glass, Antzee Magruder, and Sherri Reid, while welcoming many well-known Memphis artists such as Karen “Bottle” Capps, Jay Etkin, Matthew Hasty, Jerry and Terry Lynn, Ron Olson, Jeanne Seagle, and Lamar Sorrento.

Since 1972, DeltaARTS has provided arts education and imaginative learning experiences for the Delta region, now serving more than 15,000 students, teachers, families, and senior citizens. DeltaARTS is the 2015 recipient of the Arkansas Governor's Award for Excellence in Arts Education.

Tickets are $75 general admission and $50 for those 35 and under. Purchase tickets by visiting deltaarts.org or by calling (870)732-6260. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. ( Pictures on Page 3)
