Alvy Don Buck, 79, of Hughes, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

Don was a crop duster pilot for many years and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edison Buck and Mayfus Buck Wilkins.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Catherine Buck; two daughters, Anita Smith (Steve) of Kennett, Missouri and Tina Elizabeth Jones of Hornersville, Missouri; a son, Edison Don Buck (Beth) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; a sister, Linda Ann Miller (Wallace) of Cuba, Alabama; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a niece, Catherine Denise Roberts (Anthony) of Munford, Tennessee; a brother in law, John Lamar Ronson of Corvallis, Montana; a sister in law, Evelyn King of Millington, Tennessee; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 2 p.m.

Interment will take place at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.

Mrs. Mildred R. Montaque

The stone-pony has gone to glory. Mrs. Mildred R.

Montaque, age 97, passed away of natural causes at her home Monday morning, April 4th, 2016. She was born Sept. 15, 1918 at Lansing, the daughter of William G.

Huxtable and Porter Lofton Smith. She received a diploma from Mananses High School, Memphis and a Bachelor’s Teaching Certificate from Mississippi Industrial College, Holly Springs, Mississippi. She taught elementary school, mostly 5thgrade for 42 years in the West Memphis area. She was very dedicated to student learning as a classroom teacher, rarely missing a day of work, and prided herself in treating all students equal and fairly.

Mrs. Montaque was very active in her community wherever she lived. She served on several boards in West Memphis including Sheltered Workshop, CrimeStoppers, Community Housing Resources Board. In Fayetteville, she was an active volunteer with Mealson- Wheels for the Senior Center and St. James Church Community Outreach Project. Memberships included a Lifetime Member of the NAACP, National Education Association, Crittenden County and Washington County Retired Teachers Association. She was quite proud of starting a high school student-scholarship fund of Crittenden County Ret. Teachers Assn., where she supported giving the scholarship to struggling ‘C’ students who received less attention than ‘A’ students.

She was one of the Founders of Stewart Temple C.M.E.

(Colored Methodist Episcopal) Church in 1951 at West Memphis, attending faithfully every Sunday until her move in 1994 to Fayetteville where she became a member of St.

James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed learning and traveling to church conferences over the country.

Going to baseball games and watching ‘Jeopardy’ were her favorite pastimes. Mrs.

Montaque was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Otis Smith; and her first son, Ansell Otis Russell. She leaves two daughters and two sons, T. Faye Higgins of Little Rock, Porter Montaque of Fayetteville, Thaddeus Montaque of Greensboro, NC, Dr.

Freeman (Jasmine) Montaque of Acworth, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Corneilia C. Montaque of Greensboro, North Carolina; son-in-laws, Joe Higgins of Little Rock and A. Jimmi Ebe of Fayetteville; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m.

Tuesday April 12 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St.

James Methodist Church under the direction of Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home, 206 West Center Street, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Bobby Joe Rowlett

Bobby Joe Rowlett of Bedford, Texas, died in Plano, Texas on April 1, 2016. Born on April 9, 1933, Bob was the son of Ernest and Ida (Brown) Rowlett.

Bob attended Trumann schools, graduating in 1950.

He graduated from Arkansas State College with a degree in Chemistry and the University of Mississippi with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1954-1956.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Jack Rowlett, Doris Boyles, Betty Sue Rowlett, and Jerry Rowlett. He is survived by his wife, Hannah Jane; and three children, Mike Rowlett (Beverly) of Flower Mound, Texas; Teresa Griffis (Steve) of Oregon City, Oregon; and Rodney Rowlett of Fort Worth, Texas; and four siblings, Wendell Rowlett and Edward Rowlett of Trumann and Ann Trevathan and Thomas Rowlett of West Memphis.

He also has five grandsons and four great grandchildren.
