Tamika Patterson (seated, left) and Dowell Taylor are this year’s recipients of the Sparkle Project. A non-profit organization, the Sparkle Project is headed up by Christy Tucker. Each year, she selected special needs students from an area high school and outfits them for a complete prom experience, including a limo, clothes, flowers, photos, the whole nine yards. “This helps bring awareness to individuals with special needs and promoted inclusion,” Tucker said. In the photo with the winning couple is (standing, from left) Tucker, and special education teachers Catherine McGee and Anne Creekmore.
