• UAPB Lion Fever Day (College Fair, campus tours, scholarships) – will be held on April 1, 2016 in Pine Bluff. The UAPB Crittenden County Alumni Chapter will provide transportation to Pine Bluff. – The annual “Investing in the Future” Patriot Pride 5K is set for Saturday, April 2 at Marion Junior High School arena parking lot at 9 a.m. The event is a fundraiser for scholarships for MHS Teachers of Tomorrow and Health Occupations Students of America. • Interceding Christian Center Love Month – Free clothing, food, drink, household items and entertainment from a local artist Saturday, April 2, April 9 and April 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Autumn and Walker Streets, West Memphis.

• Arkansas State University Degree Center – Offering admission, advising, and scholarship information/assistance for students interested in attending Arkansas State University-Jonesboro on the ASU Mid-South campus. Students can major in Criminology, Business, Nursing, or Education and live locally. • The L.R. Jackson Girls Club, Inc.– Is now taking applications for Summer Enrichment Camp. We offer low rates. Breakfast, Lunch and Snack are provided. Summer Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Ages 5-12- boys and girls are welcomed. • West Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization – Is soliciting public comments concerning the upcoming FY 2017 Unified Planning Work Program. • The Church Nurse – Hosting weekly healthy lifestyle support group discussing digestive health, heart health, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and stroke prevention, every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 208 Shoppingway Blvd. Suite E (next to H& R Block).

• Lupus Foundation ArkansasGives Day – Thursday, April 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. When our supporters make a donation through www.arkansasgives.org we will receive additional bonus dollars provided by Arkansas Community Foundation. The more money our supporters give during ArkansasGives, the more bonus dollars we receive!

• Women’s Conference – Tuesday, April 12 through Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. nightly at Second St. John, 305 Ingram Blvd., West Memphis. Guest speaker will be Kindom Seekers, Jessica Davis and Voronic Barnes from Alabama. Stephen Chitman, host pastor.

• National Child Abuse Prevention Month – Flag raising ceremony in honor of all abused children in our community on Thursday, April 7 at WMPD at 4 p.m. Also giving out pinwheels, the national symbol of child abuse prevention, to be planted in a pinwheel garden at the base of the flag. Guardians of Hope Event at Arkansas State University Mid-South Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Magruder Hall, Room 108, and will feature the First Lady of Arkansas, Susan Hutchinson as well as two speakers who are adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Donations from this event will benefit the prevention programs of the CAC. Thursday, April 21 the CAC and CASA will host the WM Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at offices at Mid-South Health Systems at 905 N. 7th St., West Memphis.

• West Memphis Senior Life Center – Fundraiser Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8 at 318 W. Tyler, West Memphis. Yard sale and bake sale, also cakes, pies and hot dogs. Food Bank every 3rd Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Center activities include bingo, dominoes, checkers, cards and etc.

• The Gatsby Gala Raffle – Benefiting Junior Auxiliary of Crittenden County. Raffle for an EZ GO Express S4 Golf Cart Saturday, April 9th at Southland Park Racing and Gaming. • Holy Cross Episcopal Day School Reunion – Saturday, April 9 and Sunday April 10 The reunion will include a tour of Holy Cross Church and the former school grounds located at 209 Park Drive on Saturday followed by dinner and dancing that night at Meadowbrook Country Club, located at 1250 West Broadway in West Memphis. On Sunday morning at 9 a.m. all are invited to celebrate the Holy Eucharist at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. The fee is $50 per person which includes a donation to the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. • Crittenden County Retired Teachers – On April 14, the Crittenden County Retired Teachers Association will meet in the Marion School District Administration Office at 200 Manor in Marion for their final meeting of this school year. New CCRTAofficers will be installed, WMHS scholarship winners will be announced and present, our Apples for the Teachers Project will be finalized, and Woody Wheeless will be the guest speaker.

• DHS Division of Aging and Adult Services Seeking Delegates – Seeking Arkansans who are at least 60 years old to volunteer to serve as delegates on the 20th Biennial Silver Haired Legislative Session taking place on Aug. 17-18. Anyone interested in becoming a delegate should contact East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging at 870-930-2202. County candidates need to circulate qualifying petitions and submit them to the Agency by April 15.

• Lane Chapel CME Church Carnival – Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 821 Scott St., Forrest City. The youth and young adults are sponsoring the carnival to raise funds for their Youth and Young Adult Conference and looking for vendors to showcase their goods or services to the community. • The West Memphis School District – participates in School Choice. The School Choice program is available for eligible students who do not reside in the West Memphis School District. The application deadline is May 1, 2016. The eligibility criteria and an application for school choice may be obtained by contacting superintendent Jon Collins at 301 South Avalon in West Memphis.

• Marion School District School Choice Deadline – Applications to attend a school other than the one the parent lives in must be submitted by May 1 before the year in which the pupil will begin the fall semester and can be obtained at the Marion School superintendent’s office, 200 Manor St., Marion.
