Rock N’ Roll Weekend

Finally, a weekend when I am not scheduled to work.

I'm resting, listening to 'Back on the Chain Gang' by The Pretenders, imagining I'm twenty-something again, checking in with talk-show host Michael Savage and channeling in common sense and nostalgia, limbering up my arthritic fingers and typing up this article and mustering forces for another frontal attack at the walls of my present fictional challenge.

And realizing that I've completely forgotten what it was like to enjoy a weekend at the fullest, to see smiling faces in the crowds at the stores, go out to eat at my favorite spot, and figuratively brushing the dirt away from my roots and shoving obligation and work from my shoulders enough to stand tall without their crushing burden on my back because I have been slaving away at overtime for the last month.

Try to forget that I am only making enough money to survive in this debt-ridden, low-paying, job-reduced, opportunity-hindered country we inhabit. Knowing full well that we work and work more and more for less and less, until there is nothing to buy and it cost a fortune to buy that very same nothing.

However, there's still out there a Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto I want to listen to (There are five to chose from), a consummate book on the life of Jesus that I am tracking down even now that was translated from the original German of the author in the 1800's. Getting closer, closer to finding it on the Internet.

There's always the great outdoors as well.

Also, because of the recent Republican runoffs for President, there is the enor- mous satisfaction of knowing that everyone else is beginning to catch on to the fact that our politicians have all conspired in the last few decades to keep us all down, to reduce the American middle class to ashes, and to cut off our power at the ballot box so that the One-Percent remain firmly in charge of the country.

In short, folks finally figuring out that professional politicians are stomping the snot out of ALL of our Rock N' Roll Weekends.

But, there's always the comic relief that is the Democratic Party.

What a hoot, for instance, watching footage of Hillary Clinton, out trying to fake a Southern accent, sounding like she's speaking around a wad of cornpone stuffed in her mouth, and pretending that she actually cares about minorities while she tours select churches throughout the Bible Belt. After which, she returns to one of her many mega-million dollar mansions up North, shuts herself up inside and has the drawbridge pulled in behind her. And Bernie Sanders… that withered curmudgeon socialist who thinks you can actually give the store away for free, and not bother to tell the American people that you also have to have people paying for that same store to keep it afloat… you know, like with our country?

Like we don't know that, already?

So I'm sleeping too late, eating too much, playing a bit, catching up on chores. I'm disoriented, with all this fun-der-full time on my hands.

I feel like I have someplace to go, but I can't get there from here.

Know the feeling?

Like being lost without a compass or a reference.

Only, I trust in my core because I've simplified it and spent a lot of time and effort investing in it.

So I know that our politicians treat us those commentators on The Evening News. They are always saying they have to 'Break Down' the news for us, because we are so flaming stupid that we need them to translate, transliterate and interpret what THEY want us to know by their own selective and parsed and outright lying messages.

I love the supreme arrogance of such people.

It is the number one reason Jeb Bush fell from grace.

And now Rubio is getting the message… and the boot.

And here it is for the rest of you Professional Politicians: We don't want you pimping for the Big Boys, anymore, fellas! Time to work for those who put you into office.

Oh, almost forgot. I got an e-mail from the Tom Cotton folks, needing money. I sent this reply: “Disavow Mitch McConnell and work on getting him thrown out of his Senate Leadership job…THEN we'll talk about contributions.”

Still haven't heard either of our Arkansas Senators do that yet.

I'll keep you posted if I do. So, here…let me 'Break It Down' for you, politicians: Do your job and represent those who voted you into office.

Do I need to repeat that sl- o-w-e-r for you or LOUDER?

This weekend is playing out on me.

Running out of hours.

Until it's time to retire on Sunday night and I go to bed.

Next thing I know, there's that alarm clock going off in my ear.

I can hear it right now.

Drat!
