Fred Bollinger was born March 20, 1924, at home in West Memphis, Arkansas, to Oliver Isaac and Tassye Pace Bollinger. He is preceded in death by his wife, Syble Sims Bollinger and his sister, Mary Bollinger Bretherick. He is survived by one brother, Richard Klein Bollinger; two sons, Fred Jr. (Betty) and Mike (Linda) of West Memphis; four grandchildren, Laura Cassidy (Daniel) of Stafford, Virginia, John Bollinger (Meredith) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Shane Hart of Proctor, Lindsey Allen of West Memphis; and three great grandchildren, Mack Bollinger, Michael and Abigail Cassidy.

Mr. Bollinger graduated from Hulbert High in 1942 and turned down a football scholarship to Mississippi State to join the Navy. He was stationed on the Galapagos Islands as flight chief with Navy Air Corps guarding the Panama Canal.

Mr. Bollinger was Vice President of Southland Greyhound Park, served on the board of Bank of West Memphis, was a member of First United Methodist Church, and farmed for 61 years. He also played catcher for Hughes softball team that placed in the nationals, coached little league, and was scout leader for troop 292.

Memorial can be made to First Methodist Church of West Memphis.

A graveside service will be held at Crittenden Memorial Park on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.

J.P. Cockrill Joel Prentice Cockrill, 92, of Marion, retired postmaster and farmer, departed this life March 16, 2016, following a brief illness. He was a veteran of World War II, and while serving in the First Marine Division, was wounded at Peleliu, in the South Pacific, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a former Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5225, and held office in the National VFW.

A lifelong Methodist, J. P.

was born in Rossville, Tenn., and moved at an early age with his family to Crittenden County, Ark. He was a 1941 graduate of Crawfordsville High School, a 1949 graduate of Arkansas State University.

He also was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Julia Coleman Cockrill; his brother, Richard Cockrill; and three sisters: Dorothy Hooker, Juanita McNabb, and Mildred Saucier.

He leaves to mourn his passing a brother, Harvey Albert Cockrill (Nona) of Laurel, Miss.; a sister, Evelyn C.

McCrary of Marion, two other sisters-in-law, seven nephews and a niece.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Marion United Methodist Church on Friday, March 18, with burial following at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to Marion United Methodist Church.

Odis Guy

Odis Guy, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Hughes, passed away March 10, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, Juanita Guy, of Detroit. Other survivors include his mother, Eddie Lee Wilson of West Memphis, and four brothers, Robert Guy of Tampa, Fla.; Charles Wilson of Chicago; Curtis Wilson of Pensacola, Fla.; and Sammie Wilson Jr.

of Hughes.

Funeral services will be at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Saturday March 19. Burial will follow at Penju Cemetery.

William Lawler

William (Bill) Benton Lawler, 81, of West Memphis, Arkansas, born June 13, 1934, in Hartville, Missouri, and raised in Jerktail, Wright County, Missouri, departed this life on March 12, 2016, in Yuma, Arizona, after a short illness.

He met the love of his life, Alice Jeannine Wade, at a pie supper in 1952, and they married on Aug. 22, 1953. After living in Texas for several years, they made their home in West Memphis, Arkansas.

As a career, he loved truck driving and retired after 47 years, with 35 of his driving years with the Teamsters.

After retirement, he and his wife traveled for 15 years, until her death on Feb. 1, 2015.

He became a Master Mason on Sept. 28, 1961, in Latimer Lodge No. 145 in Licking, Missouri. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge 737, West Memphis, Arkansas, in November 2005, becoming a Perpetual Member in 2011, receiving his 50-year pin. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite and the Sahara Shrine in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was a 55-year Mason at the time of his death. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He attended Angels Way Baptist Church in Marion, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jeannine Wade Lawler, of 61 years; his parents George and Mary Lawler; sisters Ima Jeanette Cope and Phillis JoAnn Lemons of Hartville, Missouri; brother, Sherman L. Lawler of Springfield, Missouri, and two infant brothers.

He is survived by daughters, Cathy Eubanks and husband Dick of Russellville, Arkansas, Cindy Callan and husband Mike of West Memphis, Arkansas, Nancy Snow and husband Caleb (Buddy) of Stuttgart, Arkansas; son, Billy Lawler and wife Jacque of Oakland, Tennessee; sisters, Venita Faye Claxton of Hartville, Missouri, Karen Jean and husband Kenney Burney of Mountain Grove, Missouri; brothers, Farris Burgess and wife Irene Lawler of Mountain Grove, Missouri, George Dean and wife Patty Lawler of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held in Craig-Hurt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, Missouri on March 19, 2016, from 9-10 a.m. Services immediately following in the Chapel at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Manes Cemetery, Manes, Missouri.

Regina “Sue” Morris

Regina “Sue” Morris, 87, of West Memphis, took her last breath here, and her first breath in heaven on March 15, 2016, and was met there by her parents, Clarence Ray Payne and Zita Elizabeth McCants Payne; a daughter, Carolyn Andrews; and also by her two brothers and two sisters.

Sue was born on April 3, 1928, in Enid, Okla. Her life travels took her to places throughout the U.S., Panama and Cabo San Lucas. Her work allowed her to make many wonderful friends and meet local musicians including Ace Cannon, Pete Fountain, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Sue’s joys in life were her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, University of Memphis Basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, the old Lehi racetrack, fried chicken picnics at Blue Lake and the Nascar racing of Richard Petty and Dale Jr.

Sue leaves a living legacy which includes a daughter, Arlinda Daniels (James L.) of LaGrange, Kent.; 2 sons: Dennis Morris of West Memphis and Pat Morris (Donna) of Olive Branch, Miss.; a son-in-law, Andy Andrews of Franklin, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren: Spencer Morris, Louis Realini, Blair Andrews, Jeff Andrews, Alex Andrews, Justin Edwards, Jenna Bradley, Brian Daniels, Brett Daniels (Kate) and Kelly Brian (Allen); as well as 11 great-grandchildren: Chase Bryan, Callie Bryan, Aaron Daniels, Lilly Daniels, Caroline Andrews, Cannon Andrews, Olivia Andrews, Tyler Bradley, Nathan Edwards, Devon Edwards and Lynlee Morris.

The visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis on Friday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m.

Interment will take place at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR.

Sue was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in West Memphis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, The Humane Society or to the American Heart Association.
