Shabaka Afri’ka announces bid for JP District 5 seat

Quorum Court candidate pledges to be fair and just to all

Shabaka Afri’ka has announced that he is seeking the position of Justice of the Peace in District 5 of the Crittenden County Quorum Court. Afri’ka is the president of the Crittenden County NAACP and has been for the last 5 years.

Shabaka and wife Adama have owned Afri’ka Books and Income Tax Service for the last 23 years located at 812 E. Broadway in West Memphis. He is a father and a grandfather.

Afri’ka holds degrees in political science and history and emphasizes the importance of civic responsibility for all citizens. Shabaka says that “If we don’t get involved in the governing process then we can’t complain when decisions are made that may be unfair or unjust”.

Shabaka has lived in Crittenden County since 1975 and believes that we have the potential to be the most prosperous area in the world. “We have a state of the art community college; We are well situated between the most famous river in the world and the most traveled interstates in the nation; We have an airport that can land small passenger jets; and we are located across the bridge from the 16th largest city in the nation with Federal Express, as well as all the technology and industry needed to engineer a first rate economy. “All that we need now is for our local government to step up and do its part to meet opportunity with the proper gov- ernmental preparation.”

In the late 1980s and early 1990s Afri’ka served as president of the Crittenden County Political Action Committee, and was instrumental

in redrawing political

boundaries to insure fairness in our local political system.

Shabaka believes that he is uniquely equipped to help shape local government in meeting the needs of all Crittenden County residents in a 21st century culture and economy.

“With respect, Shabaka Afri’ka for Justice of the

Peace District 5.”
