– Is now registering irrigation wells for usage on farms for 2015. The deadline to register is Feb. 29. The district will be registering wells Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please contact Debbie Greer at 739-4464, ext. 104 or come by 1 Natural Resources Drive, Marion.

• The Black History Museum – at Wonder Elementary School is open to the public for viewing from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Parent Center. The museum will be available until Friday, March 11th. Please come out and see the contributions African Americans have to our society. Leeman Brown is the Principal.

• Families In Transition’s Annual Soup Sunday – Sunday, March 6 at Shake Shack, 400 Military Rd, Marion, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bill of fare will include Chili, with the option of Frito Pie, Vegetable Beef, Broccoli Cheese and Potato Soups, Plain, Broccoli and Cheese, Soft Drinks, Tea and a variety of home-made desserts. Drive-thru service will be available. All proceeds go to Families in Transition and will be used to further the transitional shelter and the prevention of domestic violence. • Water Use Reporting For 2015 – The Crittenden Conservation District is now registering irrigation wells for usage on farms for 2015. As a registered water user you are protecting your rights to the use of an equitable amount of surface water in times of shortage and to establish ground water rights within critical areas. Act of 154 of 1991 requires users of ground and surface water be assessed an annual fee in the amount of $10 per well and relift site. Act 408 of 1989 provides for the collection of a late registration penalty. Any person who fails to register a well or relift site by the deadline shall be subject to a penalty for each year they fail to register.
