Black Knights open home schedule on Monday, February 29

Sports Editor West Memphis Christian opened its 2016 regular season late last week with a pair of losses.

The Black Knights played potent baseball programs, Home School Association and Magnolia Heights, on the road and fell 14-3 and 16-2, respectively.

Senior Kirby Patterson was tabbed the loss for the Black Knights against Home School Association.

The senior also finished his day at the plate going 1 of 3 with a home run.

Patrick Ratliff and Matthew Baker each went 1-4, Jacob Hatcher was 22, Brady Holloway was 1- 2, and Manning Shidler and Evin Cooper each checked in with 1-2 days at the plate.

Magnolia Heights has won the Class AAAA title the past four years, and should be competitive again this season.

Parker Stewart took the loss for West Memphis Christian against Magnolia Heights, while Hatcher went 1-3 with a double, Holloway went 1-3 and Parker Benson finished up 2-2.

West Memphis Christian plays at Tunica Institute on Friday, February 26 at 4 and 6 p.m. Tunica Institute was the preseason No. 1 team in Class A this season.

The Black Knights open their season at home on Monday, February 29 at 6 p.m. against Lee Academy, a district rival.
