Tools of an ancient trade
Students at Marion Middle School learned a lot about the indigenous people of Arkansas last week when Parkin State Park Interpreter Mel Harvey held a series of talks about how the people of the tribes lived and how they survived by living off the land. Harvey (top) holds a turtle shell and quizzed the students about how they think it could have been used by the Indians. Students broke into smaller groups (bottom) and were given items and told to determine how the artifact may have been used.
