A total of 50 attended the Annual Valentine dinner held at the First United Methodist Church Morrison Fellowship Hall Feb. 12.

The special event was sponsored by the youth of the church.

The menu was marmalade glazed ham, green bean casserole, hash brown potato casserole, rolls and desserts. Pastor Johnny Jenkins gave the welcome and the invocation.

Rev. Melvin Mann sang “How great Thou Art” and “He Touched Me.” Dot McKinney and Mark Speed sang “Blessed Assurance” as a duet and Coretta Allen presented a praise dance.

The entire group attending sang several songs. Jane Speed was the accompanist. These present were from Earle, Marion, Parkin, Crawfordsville, Little Rock and Memphis.

*** James W. Partain was honored for his Birthday with a surprise party given by members of the First Assembly of God Church at the fellowship hall Feb. 7.

Pizza, hot dogs, chicken, salad, dips and chips and other pick up foods were served, along with birthday cake.

James was “roasted” by several friends attending.

*** The Women’s Ministry of the Assembly of God church met at the fellowship hall Feb. 2 where they enjoyed a Valentine’s Day party.

They filled their plates with pizza and salad and had a chocolate feast.

Laurie Adams gave the devotional on “True Love” and the group played games.

Others present were Linda Jo Branch, Terre Rodgers, Krista Adams, Ashley Cox, Michelle McCormick, Tammy Soto, Amy Soto, Autumn Smith, Alicia Martinez, Delores Smith and a guest.

*** Barbara Russell of Hattisburg, Mississippi spent three weeks in the home of her sister Charlotte Brooks.

*** A Leadership retreat for members of the First Assembly of God Church was held Feb. 5th and 6th at Village Creek State Park near Wynne.

Rev. Clayton Adams, pastor, was leader and also prepared the meals in the cabin. Several of those attending presented devotionals at each meal, a special prayer time was held Saturday night.

The group held a scavenger hunt and enjoyed playing games.

Included were Laurie Adams, Terre and Bobby Rodgers, Debbie and Carlos Love, Judy Wiley, Sandy Holloway, Crystal Holloway, Sue Young, Tabitha and Jeff Newingham, Tracy and John Buford, Ashley and Matt Cox, Tammy Soto, Any Soto, Nicole Peer and Myra Arquitt.
