It’s your choice…

‘AWord from the Pastor’ By Clayton Adams

We find ourselves in another election year. I remember my first presidential candidate I voted for, Ronald Reagan. I sure miss him!

Politics is a short study of human nature. To see the future of our country all one needs to do is look at other nations in history and take a solid look at the human nature and past activities of candidates who want to be our leaders.

Jim Nelson Black, in his book When Nations Die, wrote, “Most of us do not remember much from our history lessons about the French Enlightenment or, for that matter, the issues that led to the American Revolution. But this is the legitimate background of our own place in history, it is vital that we reconsider the nature of life in those earlier times. For within those eras and movements are the seeds of the troubles we face today.”

I believe, our nation is on the downward slope and we will end up in the heap of once great nations that failed because though they we were strong and thrived, our nation is progressively moving towards self-indulgence and pursuit of selfsatisfaction instead of maintaining and strengthening the core values this great nation was founded upon and correctly applying our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I also believe that all human events are following the plan of God hastening His return. When will the end happen? I don’t know.

The Bible says that no one knows, “…know neither the day nor the hour..”

(Matthew 25:13). God brings up and places in positions of control and power those He wishes to use to accomplish His plans. I believe that God has a better plan for His people and it is a great future for as it states in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

And while here on this earth our walk is a walk of faith as it says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight.”

God ordained, allowed the creation, establishment and unparalled success and leadership our country has enjoyed. The United States has been a beacon of hope, a leader of nations and a force for good (yes, we have made many mistakes but these pale compared to the good) and we can continue to be if we return to the One who has made it possible.

If we choose another course leading us farther away from Him, be looking for the ash heap of once great nations for that is where we’ll find the remnants of a once great nation.

It is ‘In God We Trust” not politicians, religious, financial leaders we trust. It’s Your Choice.
