Congratulations

Congratulations to James T. and Ann Reece of Hughes. Their granddaughter, Mercy Faye Reece Lucy was born Jan. 26, weighing 6 lbs., 15 oz., and was 19 inches long. Mercy’s mother is Taylor Reece Lucy, and grandmother is Crystal Hardin, both of Tupelo, Arkansas. Mercy’s older sister is 36 month old, Eris Rivers Lucy and a brother, Camden Hawk Lucy, who ust turned 2 on Feb. 1.

Library Winter Hours

The Horseshoe Lake Library is open from Noon until 5 p.m., on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s. Librarian, Nikki Walker is willing to be open, on the third Saturday of each month, as long as she has participation from the community.

Town Meeting

Due to the change in date, of Town Meeting, Water Operator, Fire Chief and Code Enforcement Officer were not available at the meeting on Feb. 8. Tonya Alexander made her second appearance at the meeting, asking for votes on Circuit Judge, Division 6, Judge Fogleman is retiring. Ronnie Marconi, District 7 Quorum court representative was at the meeting to give an update on Hospital. Under old business it was recognized that W-2’s and 1099’s had been sent out. It was acknowledged that Reggie Jetton was present at the January meeting to present proposals on three separate generators and would have to be included in the budget. The transportable generator passed inspection by Vince Mc Dermott and Ricky Scarbrough. The sewer stations in the town have been pumped out. The 2016 Fire due statements are being prepared and will be sent out shortly. Everyone pays $ 50.00 and payments may be sent to HLVFD, 174 Highland Dr., Horseshoe Lake, AR 72348. Under new business, the 2014 audit of Utilities is underway, auditors were informed that the previous Mayor, Larry Pipkin, worked in the office for a month, before anyone was hired. The council adopted the 2016 Budget, at their meeting on Feb. 1, and passed the resolution. The Mayor, Lyn Kee asked to get new bids on the mixers for the sewer pumps, including installation. Alderman, Siders requested that there be testing every other Friday, on the Tornado Sirens. Effective as of Jan. 12 at noon, testing will begin. A secondary garbage business, in the Town of Horseshoe Lake, who was present at the January meeting and asked for a chance to be able to bid, was present at the February meeting, asking for a ban on compacting trash trucks and trailers. Since a repair was made on current providers, that seal was replaced on February 6th and there was no leakage, council agreed to stay with current providers, at this time.

Bunko

The Horseshoe Lake Ladies Bunko group, Hostess this month was Mary Cat Cupples, she also had high score for the evening. Jeanine Stewart rolled most big bunkos. Lethia Jo Cupples had low score and Jennifer Cox had traveler’s pillow at the end of the evening. The ladies enjoyed Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Caesar Salad, Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and soft drinks.
